the little green gnomes and the sunshine walk is a group show opening on october 9, 2026. as amabelle morning’s curatorial debut, the show will feature a range of emerging and established artists at her new space in los angeles, california.
the show’s title is borrowed from a work by sculptor and painter eugenia “jinka” schrader (1928-2024), amabelle’s late great-grandmother. throughout jinka’s life, she had a recurring dream about little green gnomes walking out of darkness into a brilliant light. she thought it a mere construction of her imagination until a visit to st. luke’s hospital, bethlehem in her sixties when she got lost in the building and saw her dream incorporated into reality: patients at the children’s ward dressed in little green robes in preparation for an outing in the sun. jinka had been a resident at the children’s ward many years before, realizing that her recurring dream was a memory, not a figment of her imagination.
artists participating in this show hail from a wide variety of backgrounds and disciplines. with unique style, media, and messages, they have come together to address an experience that is nearly impossible to define through science or language. dreams and memories are often confusing, fabricated, and inspiring. the combination of the two phenomena is auspicious serendipity.
artists are welcome to apply to the show here. please inquire via email for additional information.
